3D- Sand Casting

This was the first time that I had used this technique, though the last two years we hadnt really covered how to do casting of any kind so didnt really know the process behind it. The little bit that we did do was at the beginning of my first year so dont really remember exactly how to do it.
These show the various things that we cast mainly consisting of hands and shoes as they were easy things to make molds of. They obviously need cleaning up and some have come out better than others depending on how goo the mold was.

We also tried using this technique to do a body cast. Due to the fact that the sand doesnt give much when you put something onto it so we had to build the sand up around Nicola to try and give the cast a bit more shape. That didnt really work out as you can see from the picture above. Although it didnt come out maybe as well as hoped I now know the general process for this technique so can use it in future work.
