We have a
statutory remit to promote and monitor human
rights; and to
protect, enforce and promote equality across the nine "protected" grounds - age, disability, gender, race,
religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and

Universal Declaration of Human Rights is generally agreed

be the foundation of international human rights law. Adopted in 1948, the UDHR has inspired a rich body of legally binding international
